Fans of PlayStation and Sony are on the edge of their seats as a recent source has revealed that the greatly-anticipated gaming console, the PlayStation 5, could be released within the next few weeks.
Highly-respected game developer David Jaffe, who previously worked on God of War, has recently tweeted that the console reveal is in ‘four weeks’, which understandably has left gamers very excited.
The tweet read: “Sony knows hardcore gamers are hanging on every scrap of info and know that just cause [Microsoft] dominates the conversation at the moment, that’s an easy thing to change when they are ready to reveal (assuming the reveal is good).”
Jaffe went on to add: “I want to say it’s the worst kept secret in games right now. February reveal like they did for PS4.”
Rather expectedly, Sony have kept their cards very close to their chest regarding this matter, but they have previously admitted that fans should expect the PlayStation 5 to be appearing on shop shelves within the holiday season of 2020.
Within his blog, Sony CEO Jim Ryan said: “Since we originally unveiled our next-generation console in April, we know that there’s been a lot of excitement and interest in hearing more about what the future of games will bring.
“Today I’m proud to share that our next-generation console will be called PlayStation 5, and we’ll be launching in time for Holiday 2020.”
If Sony were to release the console next month, this would be rather out of character for the company. Moreover, Sony have previously released the PS4 and PS3 in November, capitalising on the festive sales to help propel the product into the gaming market.
Nevertheless, the insider source of David Jaffe may provide an interesting revelation in Sony’s new plans to possibly get ahead of their competitors.
